Monuments documentation process consider one of the most important pillars of conservation, the most common issue about documentation that it just used while the restoration project starts, but the correct approach that it is a continuous process till it reach to a complete monitoring operation, this operation was very hard before documentation technology appears, which minimized the time and effort spent in documentation, in addition to its precise results which helped in decision making for restoration and conservation as a whole, the study depends on action research method to evaluate using technology in documentation between theory and practice, the outcome result is a frame work of using technology in documentation evaluation to reveal how useful is using documentation done through technology in prioritizing intervention of restoration and conservation.

This study aims to analyze the relationship between Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) and workers' satisfaction and performance levels in LEED certified office buildings. to provide useful information and design recommendations for buildings designers as well as decision makers regarding which IEQ criteria elements improve or worsen workers' satisfaction and performance levels in sustainable environments. Despite a recent increase in popularity and implementation of sustainable building design practices, little research has been done on the effects of these guidelines on worker satisfaction and performance in LEED-certified buildings. Knowledge about the influence of the physical work environment on office worker satisfaction and performance is critical to businesses’ economic success. Worker satisfaction and performance underpins employee recruitment, retention, health, and welfare in the workplace. Understanding how sustainable building design is related to workers’ satisfaction and performance will also help enhance the current sustainable building design movement and continue the successful market transformation led by the USGBC. The IEQ criteria included in this study are user perception of quality of office layout, office furnishings, thermal comfort, indoor air, lighting, acoustics, cleanliness and maintenance, and overall workspace. Worker satisfaction and performance were measured by a user self-assessment questionnaire administered through an on-line survey. Respondents’ demographic characteristics and office characteristics were also collected and analyzed.
Correlational statistics were used to determine the relationship between IEQ criteria and worker satisfaction and performance. Respondents’ demographics and office characteristics were analyzed using descriptive statistics and used to describe the workspaces. Descriptive statistics were also used to summarize the participants’ responses in each IEQ criterion. This study contributes to interior designers’ knowledge and ability to incorporate effective IEQ criteria to support worker satisfaction and performance in sustainable workplaces. The findings will enable businesses to make appropriate sustainable design decisions that may affect their business strategies. They will also help identify the strengths and weaknesses of the current IEQ criteria in the LEED-certification system that influence work environment. This knowledge may increase the use of LEED system by designers and business owners, thereby supporting the sustainable building design movement and contributing to the successful market transformation.

The study examines the impact of political factors and the consequent changes in economic and social factors on architectural trends. through studying the role of political factors in the emergence and spread of the Western trend in Egyptian architecture, which began during Muhammad Ali's rule in Egypt and increased during Ismail's rule, and studied the architectural styles that reflect the western trend and the architectural output in both periods. And the similarities and differences in architectural trends during the periods of Muhammad Ali and Ismail.

With the development of fabric architecture all over the world, because of its lightweight, high efficiency, low cost, design flexibility, portable and friendly to natural, we notice that its application levels in Egypt is very low on both sides; the number of executed projects and the technical level of the projects.
After studying of fabrics membrane types and their properties then comparing them to the applied projects in Egypt we find that referred to economic and cultural reasons; fabric architecture in Egypt needs more time and development to could met the world level.

The main outcome of the study reaffirms the utmost importance on focusing on the pre-construction stage, where the project stakeholders (Employer, Engineer and Contractor) are meant to exert their maximum towards thorough planning and development of alternative solutions., each in its field. The research discussed various cases of construction project that were subjected to prolonged durations of suspension due to various reasons, most important the lack of alternative planning in the event of crises, and the poor preparation to manage the probability of occurrence of sudden unforeseen events and conditions. This led inevitably to improper study of the impact of such events on the time schedule. Another important input is the perception of the Employer and Engineer with regards to the Contractor’s study of the time impact of unforeseen conditions and events, whose success depends on the consideration by the former parties of the study’s primary objective: pushing the works forward in the most effective way, without jeopardizing the Contractor.

As such, this research focuses on exploring the methodology through which Construction firms can enhance their decision-making in the best possible way that enables prevention, mitigation and resolution of emerging crises and unforeseen events. The objective of the proposed methodology is to enable construction firms during times of crisis to deliver their project on time, within the specified budget and meeting the expected level of quality. This leads to performance improvement, based upon studying the factors affecting high-level decision-making in construction companies, using dynamic prototypes, and depending on accurate information which could be measured by virtue of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), until attaining the main targets of construction companies: profit and market endurance.

The metal rolling industry is in continuous demand for increasing the efficiency of the process. A new method of partitioning the consumed power in plate rolling into its constituent parts is presented. The proposed model takes into consideration the spread of workpiece, making it applicable to more general situations where the height to length ratio is equal to or larger than one. A mathematical model is proposed to calculate the consumed power and calculate different losses in the rolling operation. The method is easy and computationally efficient, which makes it attractive to industrial application

تعتبر مشکلة استهلاک الطاقة من المشکلات الملحة التي يجب أخذها في الأعتبار من مراحل التصميم الأولى، لذلک يقع على عاتق المصمم المعماري مسئولية کبيرة في طرح بدائل حلول للحد من تأثير التصميم المعماري الغير متوافق مع البيئة على استهلاک الطاقة، لذلک يختص البحث بضرورة استخدام التصميم المعماري في تقديم حلول متوافقة بيئياً بحيث تحقق راحة حرارية و شدة إضاءة طبيعية مناسبة للأستعمال بصفة عامة وتتوافق مع القرى السياحية بصفة خاصة بغرض خفض استهلاک الطاقة، يرتکز البحث على دراسة تحليلية للمراحل الأولية من التصميم المعماري التي يمکن صياغتها لتحقيق التوازن بين جودة التصميم والتوافق البيئي المرشد للطاقة، ولعل من أهم نتائج البحث وضع معايير تحقيق التصميم المعماري المتوافق بيئياً في البيئات الحارة تطبيقاً على القرى السياحية، ويوصي البحث بتطبيق فکر ترشيد استهلاک الطاقة في مرحلة التصميم المعماري الأولي کشرط أساسي للأنتقال إلى المرحلة التالية من التصميم و اعتمادها من خلال أولو الأمر کسياسة عامة للدولة في مواجهة أزمة الطاقة.

The Department of Architecture aims to develop an architectural engineer with all the needs of the labor market in the fields of architecture, design, planning, and .... The architecture programs consist of a curriculum that contains many different scientific and engineering courses , Which are all integrated to build the thought of integrated architectural theory, scientifically and geometrically, and the importance of the close relationship between architectural education and practice of the profession, the architectural education in the departments of architecture is subject to a set of specific regulations of the scientific requirements, NH, as a result of the multiplicity of these actors, these requirements vary and differ from one hand to another, reflecting the diversity of study plans for the departments of architecture by authorities regulate the exercise of the profession of architecture.
The field of architecture, like other practical scientific disciplines, considers the need to be linked to the fields of practicing the profession through the existence of the summer training courses as one of the plans of the architecture of the study.
Therefore, the research considers the importance of the summer training courses as one of the basic courses and as one of the requirements of graduation in architectural programs, and its role in raising the efficiency of the graduates of architecture in the practice of the profession and allowing them to identify the professional medium and linking it to the theoretical sciences in the college. The study aims to follow the analytical method to monitor and analyze the summer training courses and its various stages in some Saudi universities. Therefore, some recommendations were made regarding the training courses. Summer and its role to promote the practice of the profession of architecture.

The Architectural Design of Health care Buildings has scientifically direct therapeutically effect on Resident patient. Today's client chooses the most comfortable and most place with amenities, and avoids places that don’t care about human needs. Thus, Architect works to create the suitable built environment to accommodate the therapeutical community. The research problem is represented in not having the patients considered, while they present the main target, in designing phase. Islamic patterns are considered one of the most important elements in Islamic architecture leaving a unique mark through past ages. Despite all the traditional elements, Islamic art has been a major influence in many modern buildings. Carrying on Islamic artistic patterns with a more modern perspective to its traditional elements, integrating with modern technology to strengthen its architectural function in the building in addition to its beautiful appearance. On the other hand, we can sharply detect a significant decline and misrepresentation for this great art in many Arabic buildings that uses Islamic patterns in a shallow process designing the façade without taking into consideration the artistic nor functional standards.
The paper is aiming to highlight the modern concepts of Islamic art that have been affected by modern day technology, as they succeed in inserting both the third dimension (height) and the fourth dimension (time) in the formation of Islamic patterns to produce spectacular dynamic façades. To achieve this objective, the paper approaches a detailed methodological analysis to one of the widely known global buildings demonstrating the main design concept influenced by Islamic artistic patterns which not only gave the building a spectacular design and appearance, but also have had a senior role in the environmental interior cooling system via modern technology. It also shows the integration method between Islamic patterns and modern technology. Concluding, the paper clears out the importance of looking back to our generous architectural heritage which elements and concepts can be used in contemporary architecture, taking advantage of modern technologies.

THE RELATION BETWEEN CARGO OPERATION AND WATER POLLUTION IN DAMIETTA HARBOR

Damietta harbor as all harbor suffer from water pollution due to ship fuel leakage and surrounding urban area waste disposal in form of solid or sewage. All these point sources of pollution contribute in threatening of aquamarine life environment by adding organic or non-organic matter pollutant and pathogens to water. This situation will lead to the fact that marine water is no longer a healthy place for aquamarine life which will be reflected in people health especially harbor labors who are feeding on such sea foods. When people health is negatively affected by such pollutant sea foods it will be appeared in form of less ability of work and long time or short time diseases. For this reasons this study was achieved in order to find the relation between pollutants different elements and cargo operation inside harbor place in form of scatters charts which will help us to more understanding of factors that effect on harbor cargo circulation. Also a Monitoring system and a group of recommendation were constructed in the end of this study in order to avoid such circumstance which affect on harbor performance and its economy.

A significant difference between essential and preventive maintenance is that essential maintenance is normally undertaken when the bridge reliability has fallen to or below the target value while preventive maintenance is undertaken when the bridge reliability is still above the target value. This paper aims to know and identify the main and minor defects in the bridge in Egypt in order to prepare corrective plan to solve these defects in preventive stage. A sample of bridges distributed overall Egypt and had different conditions will be chosen, studied and analyzed. The sample includes 45 bridge and its maintenance reports. The end result of this paper will be a general reliability –based framework to be used by General Authority for Roads & Bridges and Transportation in Egypt in order to plan optimal strategies for the maintenance of its bridge network.

EXPERT SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT FOR EVALUATING COMPETITION ABILITY OF EGYPTIAN CONSTRUCTION COMPANIES IN INFRASTRUCTURE TENDERS

This study attempts to shed a great deal of light on the problem of contractor selection in the Egyptian infrastructure projects. This paper presents a comprehensive review of the available literature on contractor selection methods. Reviewing the literature we found that there are thirteen criteria that must be taken into consideration when evaluating the competition ability (i) Financial ;(ii) Health and Safety ;(iii) Technical; ;(iv) Quality;(v) Organization ;(vi) Relationship ;(vii) Past Experience ;(viii) Past Performance ;(ix) Resources ;(x) Environmental ;(xi) Management ; (xii) Present workload ;( (xiii) Tendering price. The thirteen criteria have twenty seven sub-criteria that are collected from previous studies that influence the competition ability. The objective of this research is to study the contractor selection process and to develop an expert system that aids in assessing contractor selection in infrastructure tenders in Egypt. Interviews with domain experts were arranged. The results of questionnaire surveys have been analyzed in order to extract the knowledge which subsequently used to develop the expert system for tenders` evaluation (ES-TE). The system was tested against three actual cases and it is found that the system is valid for assessing the contractor selection in infrastructure tenders in Egypt. Finally, the expert program facilitates contractor selection instead of human judgment.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of strengthen of soil under concrete slab on its thickness. Rigid pavement strength depends on the rigidity of concrete slab in addition to the effect of soil strength. This research tries to study strengthen of soil under rigid pavement using different compositions of coarse and fine aggregate. The term which expresses soil strength in the AASHTO design equation is the value of the modulus of subgrade reaction (K). Various compositions of fine and coarse aggregate have been tested in the lab. Each sample has been analysed in term of sieve analysis and California bearing ratio (CBR). Using CBR value for each sample and AASHTO equation, the modulus of subgrade reaction has been estimated. Using the estimated value of modulus of subgrade reaction and AASHTO design method for rigid pavement the slab thickness has been estimated for each case. Results have been analysed to get the effect of best composition of coarse and fine aggregate under rigid pavement.

OBSERVABILITY ANALYSIS AND STATE ESTIMATION APPROACH OF POWER SYSTEM

This paper introduces a new approach to solve the problem of power system state estimation and check the observability of the measurement scheme. The state estimation is a powerful technique for system monitoring and control. Through a numerical method for observability analysis in power system state estimation based on weighted least square (WLS), the system state will be implemented and the measurement scheme will be judged. In addition to that, investigation for the effects of the measurements redundancy on the accuracy of the estimated variables is also discussed. The technique is applied to IEEE 30 bus system. Test results show the effectiveness of the proposed method to reach the best of the state estimator solution.

AN INVESTIGATION OF ARGON GAS ADDITIVES TO LPG ON THE TURBULENT LEAN PREMIXED FLAME CHARACTERISTICS FOR EV BURNER

A sets of experiments were done on a vertical environmental (EV) burner with fixed coflow air of 873 Lit /min to ensure turbulent lean premixed flow in order to study the effect of additon of argon mixture to the Liquefied Petroleum Gas on the temperature distributions and flame structure. The environmental (EV) burner assembly was fixed vertically in the test rig to scan the flame radially and axially. The flow rate of fuels, diluent and air were measured using rotameters.The whole supply lines were calibrated. The mixture of gases, air were injected through mixing pipes controlled with solenoid valves handled with a Labview program.The combustion flame was in room atmospheric conditions. The turbulent flame axial, radial temperature profile was measured using a shielded Platinum thermocouple type S. Flame images were taken using high resolution Canon 6D digital camera with high resolution lens .The fuel used was mixtures of different fuels of LPG, Argon. The choice of the different investigated cases was based on flame stability. The axial, radial distributions of mean gas and exhaust temperature,smoke number,NOx and combustion efficiency, are presented and analyzed for selective cases.The results obtained indicate the following: for pure LPG flames the images show short light blue flames at low flow rates and with progressive increase of the fuel flow rate this color changed to dark blue flame then to yellowish and white luminous zone.The exhaust temperature ranges was increasing with increasing of fuel flow rate of LPG. By Ar addition the flame luminosity decreases with the increase of Ar dilution, also the flame length increased in all runs with the progressive increase of Argon flow rate while decreasing the soot formation, while the NOx trend, exhaust temperature and combustion efficiency decreased by increasing Argon percentage addition.

Providing clean and affordable water to meet human needs is a grand challenge of the 21st century. Worldwide, water supply struggles to keep up with the fast growing demand, which is exacerbated by population growth, global climate change, and water quality deterioration. The need for technological innovation to enable integrated water management cannot be overstated. Nanotechnology holds great potential in advancing water and wastewater treatment to improve treatment efficiency as well as to augment water supply through safe use of unconventional water sources. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are microscopic, hollow, cylindrical tubes made out of graphene sheets. They contain several different, unique functions. Two functions in particular, mechanical and antimicrobial, cause nanotubes to be lethal to microbacteria, as well as being small, strong and flexible. This has allowed nanotubes to be produced as decontaminant filters.
The main objective of the present study is to develop a filter targeting the removal of microbial pathogens from river water. An experimental setup was constructed in which the multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) are used directly as a layer in the filter. The parameters investigated in the present work includes; the pressure, the temperature, the quantity of MWCNT utilized, and the thickness of MWCNT.
The present investigation reveals that the percentage reduction in total bacterial count, total coliforms count, fecal coliforms count and fecal streptococci count increases with the increase of the water temperature and larger thickness of CNTs. However, increase water pressure results in lower percentage reduction in total bacterial count, total coliforms count, fecal coliforms count and fecal streptococci count.

تحليل التجربة المصرية فى تطوير المدن التاريخية دراسة حالة مدينة الأقصر

نظرا للتوقعات التى اشارت إليها المخططات المتعاقبه للأقصر بزيادة معدلات النمو فى النشاط السياحى, و ما يتبع ذلک من زيادة التعداد السکان, و حتى لا تؤدى الزيادة فى قطاعى السياحة و السکان إلى النمو العشوائى الذى بدوره يؤدي إلى فقـدان الأقصر أهميتها السياحية, فقد ارتکزت إستراتيجية تطوير الاقصرعلى محاور أهمها: محـور التنمية الأثـرية: و الذى يهدف الى تحويـل المناطق التاريخيـة و الأثرية إلى متحف مفتوح وحي للتراث - ومحور التنمية السـياحية: والذى يهدف الى تنويـع المنتج السياحي, وإضافة غـرف وأنشطة ومناطق سياحية, وإدخال تعديلات في برامج الزيارة لمناطق الجذب السياحي - ومحور التنمية العمرانيـة: و الذى يهدف الى الارتقـاء بالهيکل العمراني القـائم، وتنميـة مناطق جديـدة. محور التنمية البشـرية: و الذى يهدف الى تحسـين مستوي الخدمات ورفع مستوي الجهاز الإداري بالمدينة .
و لتحليل هذه التجربه فقد تم تحديد محاور البحث فى : التخطيط العمرانى ودوره فى تطوير المدن التاريخية, منظور مدينة الاقصر قبل تجربه التطوير, مشروعات التطوير و السياسات التنفيذية, مشروعات مکمله لاستراتيجية تطوير مدينة الاقصر ( تم التنفيذ ), مشروعات مکمله لاستراتيجية تطوير مدينة الاقصر ( لم يتم التنفيذ ), و اخيراً النتائج و التوصيات

this paper presents an algorithm for human activities recognition in videos based on a combination of two different feature types The first feature type concerns the shape and is called the Shape moments. The second feature type concerns the contour boundary coordinates and the feature is called Histogram of Normalized Distances from Center of gravity of the object Shape “COG” and it’s Contour points “HND”. Combining these features leads to the formation of a strong complementary feature vector that captures effective discriminate details of human action videos. We use two classifiers; the first is Multi-class Support Vector Machine and the second is Naïve Bayes classifier. The Recognition rate by using Multi-class SVM classifier is up to 95.6 % but by using Naive Bayes classifier is 97.2%.

PCA REDUCED FOREST FOR LEARNING TO RANK SPOKEN TRANSCRIPTIONS

This paper discusses the problem of learning to rank specially for spoken transcriptions. The state-of-art approach for text/web documents is to apply machine learning techniques to learn a ranking model from labeled query-documents pairs with their features. One of the best state-of-art learning algorithms is the Random Forest, however it does not perform very well when features are dependent or are monotonic transformation of other features as this makes the trees of the forest less independent. We propose to use Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to bags of features, in order to reduce them to simplify the model and have a surrogate score for each field's features producing more independent set of features for the Random Forest. Using this technique for a transcriptions dataset, 4.32% improvement in terms of Expected Reciprocal Rank (ERR@10) and 0.4% improvement in terms of Normalized Discounted Cumulative Gain (NDCG@10) for training data are achieved with very comparable results for the testing data. We emphasized the effectiveness of the technique by applying it to the larger and benchmarked web documents dataset; Microsoft LETOR. An improvement of 7.99% and 1.29% for test data are achieved for the two used metrics respectively.
