GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE AS AN EFFECTIVE RAINWATER MANAGEMENT APPROACH IN CITIES

Several cities in the world, including some Egyptian cities, are exposed to heavy rainstorms due to climatic changes. These storms may have a recurrence rate of decades, but their damage cannot be overlooked due to the heavy human and material losses they cause. In this research, we study how to deal with the harmful effects of rainstorms for cities and the resulting rapid and sudden floods that cause many losses in lives and property. That is by studying the means of green infrastructure as an approach based on maintaining the hydrological cycle of water in the safe management of dense rainwater and effective in urban areas. The research concludes that there are promising possibilities for the application of green infrastructure means in new Egyptian cities, which may be exposed to those rainstorms, because of their environmental and aesthetic benefits in addition to being effective means of rainwater management and avoiding the bad effects caused by urban floods.
 
تتعرض عدة مدن فى العالم ومن بينها بعض المدن المصرية إلى عواصف مطيرة شديدة الهطول بسبب التغيرات المناخية، تلك العواصف التي قد يكون معدل تكرارها يصل إلى عقود من السنوات إلا أن أضرارها لا يمكن إغفالها لما تسببه من خسائر بشرية ومادية فادحة. يتم في هذا البحث دراسة كيفية مواجهة الأثار الضارة للعواصف المطيرة للمدن وما ينتج عنها من فيضانات سريعة ومفاجئة تسبب خسائر عديدة في الأرواح والممتلكات، ويكون ذلك من خلال دراسة وسائل البنية التحتية الخضراء كنهجيعتمد على الحفاظ على الدورة الهيدرولوجية للمياه في إدارة مياه الأمطار الكثيفة بشكل امن وفعال في المناطق الحضرية، ويخلص البحث في النهاية إلى وجود إمكانيات واعدة لتطبيق وسائل البنية التحتية الخضراء في المدن المصرية الجديدة والتي قد تتعرض لتلك العواصف المطيرة، وذلك لما لها من فوائد بيئية وجمالية بالإضافة لكونها وسائل فعالة لإدارة مياه الأمطار وتلافى الأثار السيئة التي تسببها الفيضانات الحضرية.
