It is feared that urbanism which thoroughly stems from local indigenous values would stay at the bottom. While urbanism concepts, elements, or technologies could cut off from local values and in turn would fail to satisfy the environmentally, community, and people’s needs. Dealing varies of architects with the determinants and the different criteria followed for their directions and their range of effect in the surrounding environment. The environmental circumstances and tha evaluators of social differ from place to another so the architectural and urbanism elements are differing according to it. Therefore, a study is urgently needed to investigate, understand, and then create an analytical process to help architecture and urban specialists.

Vertical green systems in the buildings "is no longer a luxury academically, or a theoretical trend, but it has become a universally applied trend, professional practice and conscious features. It began to take shape and dimensions significantly among architects and engineers involved in this area in the most developed countries of the world.
Western countries have gone a long distances in this area and there is a noticeable increase in the popularity of this trend by the public with the continued interest of the professionals themselves. Architects are considered as effective tools that can localize and institutionalize this technique as a professional practice during the design and supervision of building projects. The main objective of this study is to provide a guide to assist the designer in selecting the green system suitable for the environmental conditions and possibilities available through reviewing the vertical green systems, studying their impact on the surrounding environment internally and externally, analyzing and evaluating them and reviewing Considerations to be taken when implementing vertical green systems
The study is based on the analytical method through which the analysis of the previous studies in this field and current situation.

This Paper aims to highlight the importance of Maspiro Triangle as a case studyof an informal area in locations with high land value.
This controversy resulted a continual unresolved tension between the authorities and the local community for generations, while recently new approaches have emerged as collaborative interaction between the different stake holders without sacrificing the interests of the public, their view points and their freedom of choice.
The area was chosen as a case study for these reasons:
Strategic importance of the location of Maspiro Triangle.
The potential and sensitivity in dealing with the Nile Shore.
Creating a pilot model of participatory approaches that inspire similar cases in urban and social development that allows the local residents the opportunity to collaborate in developing their own societies that eventually and collaterally enhance the national economy in the present and the future.
Use the scientific terminology and literal meaning of (the development in site).
This paper also aims to indicate the prospective points:
What next? What are the next steps? How to achieve equity for all stake holders in informal mixed use and residential settlement areas without neglecting socio-economic and urban rights of the public.
The interest of the authorities for developing Maspiro Triangle in a way that is appropriate for its distinctive nature and doesn’t add problems to its public.
The need to improve and upgrade the quality of design and space planning for the unique Nile shore.
Focusing on creating an adequate urban environment and urban character compatible with public space scale and transportation systems.
The role of academic institutions in development for these projects and allowing the community to participate in creating innovative architectural proposals and designs.

The designer recognizes the effective role of environmental elements - especially natural lighting - in reaching a successful design that achieves the best performance. Natural lighting goes to the core of the architect's thinking; it could also inspire Architects different forms of spaces, colors and textures. There are many modern styles that help the architect to make his own decisions for design of building and how to take advantage of natural light inside buildings. These styles aim to increase certain consideration of the environment and propose different improvements in ecosystems such as thermal insulation, exploitation of natural energy sources and attention to natural lighting systems and building materials. Many Changes had been made to the external openings, to achieve better performance of the quality of glass and to increase the transmission of the light level with the efficiency of protection from solar radiation. There are many solutions that provide different levels of natural lighting. Hence the role of research in showing some of these modern styles and its role in helping to reach the suitable environmental design for natural lighting

The term identity is one of the broadest and most controversial terminologies. There are a set of constants that have played a role in shaping the architectural identity of societies and are still playing the same role they played in the past and the climate is at the forefront of these factors.
Of course, dealing with traditional architecture with different elements of the climate is multifaceted and this is called for a variety of patterns of innovative solutions if dealt with in a new and creative way. The effectiveness of these climatic architectural elements over time has turned into cultural symbols. Therefore, reproducing these elements in an innovatively and creatively to cope with a new, not necessarily climatic, use of cultural self-expression is necessarily an indirect reference to the role of the climate in constructing the identity of the building. The research follows the theoretical and analytical approach to how to achieve cultural identity in a modern way to provide a pleasant atmosphere.

This research paper attempts to study the architectural orientations of some Egyptian architectural pioneers during the second half of the 20th century, and research in the field of study indicates the lack of research and scientific messages that dealt with the pioneers of Egyptian architecture and their history and architectural results compared to the international architecture, which led to the control of Western thought on Egyptian architectural work . Hence the need to study the architectural trends of the Egyptian architects during the second half of the twentieth century, and the classification of the architectural thought of some Egyptian architects from the analysis of some of their architectural products. Therefore, the research recommends the creation of a national architectural and engineering archive of an independent national institution dedicated to the work of Egyptian architects, with the aim of dealing with architectural figures and highlighting their most important intellectual orientations through architectural courses.

Nature is a continuous source of architectural inspiration. It is important to use the advantage of the biological systems to solve many architectural problems. The research problem focused on the need for a clear methodology to apply the biological sciences in architecture. Biodigital architecture offers new strategies for both ontological and epistemological design process, which will increase the utilization of biological field in architecture. The aim of the present study is to reveal the effect of the biodigital architecture strategy on the design process by conducting a theoretical study of its biological and numerical aspects and adding new concepts and methodology to the design process. As the ontology integrates with epistemology in philosophy, the anthropological and epistemological aspects of the design process of the biodigital architecture and the monitoring of the biodigital architecture strategy in the design process; and with the selection of seven architectural projects that implemented the biodigital architecture strategy.
The seven case studies has diversified its architectural purposes from residential, medical, commercial and even multi-purpose buildings to monitor the diversity of purpose of the design process. The diversity of project sizes from pavilion, rooms, houses, communities, towers, The design process, in addition to taking into account the time period between these projects and their selection between 2007 and 2017, the period represented for the past 10 years, with a view to monitoring the technical development used in the design process; and then conducting an analytical study of the longer side And the epistemology of the design process of each of them according to the standard model resulting from the theoretical study.
The results of the study showed that the use of the biodigital architecture strategy, which bears in its natures the integration of the ontological side of biological architecture, the epistemological aspect of digital architecture and the addition of biodigital architecture to both design through nature in physical or digital form, For architectural reality leads to the benefit of the biological system in architectural applications and makes the design process extends from principles such as friendship with the environment and the simulation of nature to the construction through nature itself, Design extends from the simulation in the form of mass and architectural structure to the structural formation processes and biological stages of biological growth, as it extends from the simulated behavior on the level of material and functionality to the direct interaction with nature as part of it.

The research problem is summarized in the lack of sustainable applied vision in the field of architecture and urbanization to improve the environmental performance of architectural spaces and existing buildings despite the fact that many of them have a non-dynamic, plastic and environmental characteristics, and a gap between the theoretical and practical aspects.
The research focuses on activating solar energy techniques and their impact on solving energy problems with architectural spaces and rationalization of their consumption in existing buildings under the constraints of the status quo such as guidance and the effects of urbanization.
Therefore, the research aims to study how to activate the applications of solar energy in architecture and the conclusion of design strategies and their application in a case study ( a local existing model ,the building of the guest house and conferences at Mansoura University ) and its environmental performance evaluation. By following the research methodology in the following order:
• The theoretical study method through the study of architectural and architectural applications based on solar energy and its impact on the design of urban space and architectural cover (social- formally - environmentally - functionally).
• Then the analytical approach to study and analyze a project that uses solar energy techniques in the design of the urban vacuum to produce design strategies that achieve a balance between sustainable environmental thought and architectural and architectural creativity.
• The case study methodology was used to conduct an applied study of the design strategies derived on the building of Mansoura University Guest House, up to proposals and a design model that achieves an improvement in the environmental performance of the building and its measurements.

The research discusses how to conserve energy in the building within the global trend, in response to the energy crisis, which is limited by the current energy sources, and increasing consumption, energy consumption in the construction sector represents a high percentage of total energy consumption in some countries, which puts on the shoulders architectural a great burden. That the design method has an effective role in energy conservation, both at the level of city planning through the construction sites and design, or at the design building and selection of building materials. Therefore, it was necessary to study and evaluate the relationship between architecture and energy by studying the extent of energy consumption and its impact on the environment and the steps taken to energy conservation in building, in this framework the research presents experience and models of energy-saving buildings and take advantage of them. - The research focuses on the study of the most important techniques to try to produce energy in addition to rationalization from renewable sources that do not adversely effect on the environment and how to employ it in the building, it is also interested in monitoring all types of renewable energies that are closely related to architecture, such as solar energy of different types, wind energy and others, And the possibility of setting rules for the architectural or environmental designer in dealing with these techniques, Which requires special specifications in the building that deals with it to provide or produce energy efficiently, The research has reached guidelines for energy saving and production frameworks that can be applied in buildings in the Egyptian environment.

Sampling frequency is a very important consideration to control the efficiency of a water quality monitoring network. A large portion of the costs of operating a monitoring network is related directly to the frequency of sampling applied to the water quality channels in the Nile delta. The sampling frequency was carried out for the monitoring locations in Bahr Shebeen canal in Middle Nile Delta and Ismaillia canal in Eastern Nile Delta. The statistical method of “Single Station, Single Variable” was used to assess and redesign of sampling frequency is based on the confidence interval around the mean value. The approach helps identifying the sampling frequency that allows estimating the annual mean value with an acceptable accuracy. Results indicate that the proposed approach represents a useful decision support tool for the optimized selection of water quality variables. The results showed that 12 samples per year at the monitoring site of Bahr Shebeen canal may allow the estimation of the BOD and COD mean values with 27% and 25% error, respectively. On the other hand, at the monitoring sites of Ismaillia canal may allow the estimation of the BOD and COD mean values with 45% and 50% error, respectively.

At lateral load-displacement response of embedded structures, the subgrade reaction method is most extensively used because the nonlinearity of soil and variation of subgrade reaction with depth can be considered relatively easily. In this method, the laterally loaded embedded structure is idealized as a beam on an elastic foundation loaded transversely and restrained by independent elastic springs acting along the length of the beam. The actual subgrade reaction distribution and the structure displacements are not dependent only on the soil stiffness but are rather a result of the mutual relationship between the structural element stiffness and the soil stiffness. A simplified distribution of springs and its stiffness coefficients is presented in this study. Through decoupling the embedded structure deformations into rigid body movement and bending deformation, the subgrade reaction modulus is estimated depending on experimental data of rigid wall movement and its accompanier ultimate passive earth pressure from literatures. The produced structural analysis results using the developed model are in a good agreement comparing with the analytical and numerical results. In addition, a parametric study is carried out, which shows that the effect of structure stiffness is more significant than the soil stiffness and with regarding the economical design is fulfilled by using flexible structural elements than the rigid one when the displacement limits is regarded.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the feasibility of offline fault location and state of health technologies for airport series circuits used to provide power to light fixtures on the runway. In current series circuits, only some ground faults can be detected and no automated fault location or state of health features are available. Fault location is currently performed with an isolation tester and a”divide and conquer”-methodology which is very time consuming and personnel intensive.

A lateral vehicle dynamic system response is investigated using two degrees of freedom Bicycle Model for the Vehicle besides Linear Model, Linear saturation model and Magic Formula for the tires. The Bicycle model is represented by the yaw rate (vehicle rotation around it’s z-axis) and lateral acceleration. The Tires models are represented by the lateral force. Five Different Tires characteristics are demonstrated by the three Tire Models using five altered wheel steering and longitudinal velocity inputs (step=30o & u=70mph, step=45o&u=70mph, sine with 0.4Hz, Magnitude=15o & u=70mph, sine with 0.4Hz, Magnitude=15o & u=55mph, sine with 0.4Hz, Magnitude=15o & u=35mph). Time Response, Frequency Response and root locus are performed to analysis the tire characteristic effects on the vehicle yaw rate.

Clean drinking water is essential to humans and other life forms, so this paper investigates the methods of obtaining fresh water from the humid atmosphere. The study was carried out experimentally and theoretically. It was designed and manufactured a simple construction unit for this purpose. The unit was manufactured and tested in Kuwait. The study was extended to analyze the effect of ambient temperature and humidity on the system performance. As the ambient humidity decreases, the mass of water absorbed by the system also decreases due to low potential for mass transfer. The heat transfer analysis was covered. The night-time moisture absorption and the day-time moisture desorption take place in the same unit. The unit was consisted of a flat, blackened, tilted surface and is covered with a single glazing. During the night, the strong absorbent flows down as a thin film over the glass cover in contact with the humid ambient air. Due to absorption of moisture from the ambient air at night, the absorbent becomes diluted. The results are compared with different previous studies.

Energy management of heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems is one of the main factors in environmentally building design. In Kuwait, Air conditioning equipments consume about seventy percents of the energy consumption in summer. This paper proposes optimization approach for energy management in HVAC systems. It investigates experimentally and theoretically the effect of some operating factors as condensing pressure, ambient temperature, solar heat gain, building specifications..etc, on the HVAC energy consumption. The cooling load consumption during the summer in the hot and humid areas of Kuwait is estimated along with the actual electrical energy consumption.

A considerable amount of -25 µm kaolin was obtained during the processing of wadi-Qena kaolinitic white sands by attrition scrubbing. This kaolin product is obtained by desliming the kaolinitic white sand. Such product is of a great economic application in many industries. In this study, this product (-25 µm kaolin) was treated or beneficiated to remove colored minerals, (iron / Titanium oxides). The treatment includes two steps. First, the kaolin particles are dispersed and at the same time the colored mineral particles are flocculated. The most affecting parameters in dispersion/flocculation process, flocculant dosage and pH are investigated to select its optimum values. In this step and under optimum conditions of flocculant dosage and pH, it was possible to decrease iron oxide from 0.623% to 0.542% and titanium oxide from 1.669% to 0.924%. Second, it was attempted to further decrease iron/titanium oxides of -25µm kaolin by acidic leaching, oxalic acid followed by sulfuric acid. The most affecting parameters which include sulfuric acid concentration, oxalic acid concentration and leaching time. The response surface methodology (RSM) coupled with Box- Behnken design (BBD) and analyses of variance (ANOVA) were performed to optimize the leaching process and determine the main and interaction effects. The response factors were taken as iron oxide content and titanium oxide content. In this context, it was found that the second order polynomial regression model is satisfactory as the predicted responses showed a good agreement with the experimental data. The optimum conditions for sulfuric acid concentration, oxalic acid concentration and leaching time were found as 4.99 molar, 10.1 g/l and 2.28 hr. respectively. Under these experimental conditions, the iron oxide content and titanium oxide content in kaolin product approached 0.2 % and 0.18 % respectively. Which assures the possibility of using such product in different industrial applications.

Value Engineering is an analytical study of a specific method. Its processes are conducted by a multidisciplinary working groups in order to come out with a certain product, design, project, or service, with the aim of identifying and classifying functions performed by that product, project, or service. All that is for the purpose of the betterment of the execution of those functions, or the reduction of the total cost, or both, through the search for innovative alternatives without compromising the basic requirements, on the bases of the principles of functional budget between the three elements of production; performance, quality and cost, Cooper, R. et al (1997). This methodology has proved highly efficient in solving problems based on its ability of functional analysis, and makes the best investment out of the available resources in a way that does not affect the purpose or function of the project, besides that it rapidly helps in giving results and proposals. All what mentioned above makes Value Engineering to be able to improve the tasks and actions, and the generation of creative ideas, and upgrading products or projects, as well as increasing its functional and aesthetical aspects. This improvement relies on a work methodology or a roadmap, where such approach boots its performance and productivity development based on the idea of combining the targeted investigation productivity and the savings in costs without compromising quality and basic functions expected by customers and producers on the other hand. The qualitative upgrading of projects and services is possible and available, that could be achieved by raising its value by improvement and development, while reducing their total cost, without affecting the necessary requirements and needs, and the optimal exploitation of resources is as well increasingly demanded day after day, since they are mostly considered as depleted resources. For the application of Value Engineering production processes, the execution of projects and other aspects Value Engineering urgently demands the survival in a severe global competition. In areas related to the applications of architecture, the achievement of quality is not only limited to design processes, construction and the trial of transforming the design into reality. With respect to the quality of equipment and materials employment the achievement of quality extends to include all of the above in addition to trying to achieve quality through the way the building is used and the quality of the method of operation and maintenance. hence the significance of Value Engineering in achieving a comprehensive quality through the stages of design and execution, as well as the achievement of that during the operation phase, an issue which the study is aiming to explain, Donald E. Parker,(1998).

There are many factors that influence the urban structure and the visual image of Nile islands in Aswan. These islands represent domains that have distinguished urban and planning character. Most of these islands have changed through the time because of the city growth and the social, economic, technological and administrative factors. Some of these islands are inhabited and include built environment, human activities and unique perceptual experiences. Nile islands in Aswan governorate suffer from many urban problems in terms of visual and functional issues due to lack of proper development. Accordingly, the migration from islands to cities increases. These islands have lost their touristic importance despite of their unique natural and heritage features. Most of the available research focused on the Nile islands which are located in the Greater Cairo Region while ignoring the islands that are located in Upper Egypt. This paper aims to analyze and evaluate the current situation of urban spaces in four populated Nile islands in Aswan. The current problems are classified according to the extent of meeting qualitative urban design criteria. This criteria includes wide range of factors such as variety, permeability, legibility, accessibility and vitality. Additionally, the evaluation includes the criteria of sustainability of urban spaces which have been clarified by the Green Pyramid Rating System in order to develop the objectiveness of this evaluation. The paper concludes with a set of critical observation and conclusions regarding the Nile islands in Aswan.
