TOP TRENDS AND CHALLENGES OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES TO SUPPORT THE DESIGN OF SUSTAINABLE BUILDING FACADES AND THE STATUS OF ITS APPLICATION IN RIYADH,SA

This research deals with digital technologies related to building facades, one of the essential elements of building envelopes: linking between internal and external spaces of the building, protecting the building from the surrounding external factors, expressing building functions, and achieving functional, aesthetic factors. Despite the fact of the emerging new technologies and the spreading of its use in supporting the design of sustainable facades in developed countries, it seems that the reality of applying such technologies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has not yet reached the desired satisfaction. This represents the problem and incentive of this research that aims to explore the top trends and challenges associated with the use of digital technologies in supporting the design of sustainable facades and observing the reality of its application in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Through the descriptive analytical methodology, the research explored the target top trends and challenges and observed the status of its relative importance, availability and application in the local market in Riyadh. The research incentive is based on the fact that knowing the trends and challenges of digital technologies related to supporting the design of sustainable building facades and determining the status and reality of its application in the local market represents the starting point for developing any related action plan needed to improve the status of its application in Saudi market and reach the desired level.
 
يتناول هذا البحث التقنيات الرقمية المرتبطة بواحد من أهم عناصر أغلفة المباني وهي الواجهات المعمارية التي تعتبر أهم وسائل الربط بين الفراغات الداخلية والخارجية للمبنى، باإلضافة الى دورها في حماية المبنى من العوامل الخارجية المحيطة وللتعبير عن وظيفة المبنى وتحقيق عامل الجذب. وعلى الرغم التطور الکبير لتقنيات الحاسب االلي في مجال دعم تصميم الواجهات المستدامة وانتشار تطبيق تقنيات الواجهات في الدول المتقدمة، اال ان واقع تطبيق هذه التقنيات في المملکة العربية السعودية لم يصل بعد الى المستوى المأمول وهو ما يمثل المشکلة البحثية. يستهدف هذا البحث استکشاف االتجاهات والتحديات المرتبطة باستخدام التقنيات الرقمية في مجال دعم تصميم الواجهات المستدامة ورصد واقع تطبيقها في مدينة الرياض، المملکة العربية السعودية. ينتهج البحث المنهج الوصفي التحليلي في مرحلة استکشاف االتجاهات والتحديات وفي مرحلة رصد واقع التصميم المعماري عن طريق االستبيانات کأداة لقياس األهمية النسبية لالتجاهات والتحديات ومدى اتاحة وتطبيق االتجاهات الحديثة بالسوق المحلي في مدينة الرياض لتحقيق هدف الدراسة. يعتمد الحافز البحثي لهذه الدراسة على أساس أن معرفة أهم اإلتجاهات والتحديات المرتبطة بتقنيات دعم تصميم المباني المستدامة وتحديد الواقع الحالي لها يمثل نقطة البداية لوضع خطة العمل الالزمة لتحسين مستوى تطبيق هذه االتجاهات في السوق السعودي والوصول الى المستوى المأمول.
