Guide for Authors

INTRODUCTION:

Journal of Al-Azhar University Engineering Sector (JAUES) is an international journal for the publication of peer-reviewed original high-quality papers and review papers in Multidisciplinary Engineering and includes the following types of contribution:

  • Original article

Describes a novel, authenticating original research and practices.

  • Critical assessments/reviews

Presents fully referenced contributions examining, critically and comprehensively, the position in a topic of current interest.

  • Overviews

Giving a broader perspective on a particular topic.

Plagiarism Status / Check similarity:

All submissions from all over the countries should be reviewed officially for plagiarism before submission. An official Plagiarism clearance certificate should be submitted at the time of submission. The editorial office will check the plagiarism (similarity check) again for the submission, and if plagiarism is unaccepted immediate rejection will be sent to the Authors. For more information on Ethics in publishing and plagiarism policy for journal publication, see (Publication  Ethics)

Copyright:

JAUES is an Open Access journal that makes your article freely available to all without limitations. Users have the right to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles under the following conditions: Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 International Public License (CC BY-SA 4.0). Upon acceptance of an article, authors will be asked to complete a copyright transfer agreement which can be downloaded from here.

Conflict of interest:

A submitted manuscript must be accompanied by a form of "Conflict of interest statement" for authors. This form must be signed by the corresponding author and submitted to the journal before publication. Also, a conflict-of-interest statement is mentioned in the published articles.

Editorial policy:

The text must be clear, logical, and concise. In assessing a manuscript for publication, the Editor will also consider its originality, educational value, and validity. Recommendations regarding major reforming or corrections may be offered to help authors re-write their submissions in a way that is acceptable to the journal.

Contributions are accepted on the understanding that they have not been submitted simultaneously to another Journal and have not been published elsewhere. Dual publication or redundant publication is unethical. Redundant publication occurs when two or more papers, without complete cross-reference, share the same hypothesis, data, discussion points, or conclusions. Therefore, submission of an article implies that the work described has not been published previously, that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, and that its publication is approved by all authors and tacitly or explicitly by the responsible authorities where the work was carried out, and that, if accepted, it will not be published elsewhere including electronically in the same form, in publishing language or in any other language, without the written consent of the copyright holder

The editors will assess all contributions for suitability for the journal. Suitable Papers are then sent to at least two expert reviewers to independently assess the scientific quality of the paper. The Editor's decision is final regarding the acceptance or rejection of articles.

As the peer review process is a double-blind peer review, please prepare your manuscript in a way that conceals the identities of all the authors and tick the appropriate care during online submission.

Authorship:

All authors should have made actual contributions to all the following items:

1)-  The conception and design of the study, or acquisition of data, or analysis and interpretation of data.

2)-  Drafting the article or revising it critically for important intellectual content.

3)-  Final approval of the version to be submitted.

 Changes to authorship:

The addition, deletion, or rearrangement of author names in the authorship of accepted manuscripts must be done before publishing the accepted manuscript. If the manuscript is published, addition, deletion, or rearrangement of author names is not possible.

In case the accepted manuscript is not published yet, a request to add or remove an author, or to rearrange the author names, must be sent to the Journal Managing Editor from the corresponding author of the accepted manuscript and must include:

     a. The reason for adding, removing, or rearranging the author names.

     b. A written confirmation (e-mail, fax, letter) from all authors that they agree with the addition, removal, or rearrangement. In the case of adding or removing authors, this includes confirmation from the author being added or removed.
"The Journal Managing Editor will forward requests that are not sent by the corresponding author to the corresponding author, who must follow the procedure as described earlier."

Please note that:

1)-  The Journal Managing Editor will inform the Journal Editors of such requests.

2)-  Publication of the accepted manuscript will be suspended until authorship has been agreed upon.

Submission process:

Submission to this journal proceeds online through the electronic submission system, and you will be guided stepwise through the creation and uploading of your files. (Please see the author guide video).

  • Please be noted that all correspondence, including notification of the Editor's decision and requests for revision, takes place by e-mail removing the need for a paper trail.
  • Also, ensure you add all authors to the online system to receive notifications about the manuscript.

Double-blind peer review:

  • This journal uses double-blind review, which means that both the reviewer and author identities are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa, throughout the review process. To facilitate this, authors need to ensure that the following instructions are followed before starting the submission process.

If you are using documents such as a report, conference paper, standard, patent or thesis online and it also exists as an identical  print equivalent i.e. with the same format and pagination, it can be usually be referenced as the print version.    If it is e-only, you can make the standard reference template an electronic version by adding the material type in square brackets  e.g. [Online] after the document title. If there is no specific document title you can place this after the document number (e.g. patent number). At the end of the reference add: Available: URL. See below for an example of an online patent:

Proofs:

The corresponding author will receive one set of page proofs in PDF format via e-mail. These proofs must be corrected and returned within 48 hours. Significant changes to the article as accepted for publication will only be considered at this stage with permission from the Editor.

Please note that it is vital to ensure that all your corrections are sent back to us in one communication: please check carefully before replying, as adding any subsequent corrections cannot be guaranteed. Proofreading is solely your responsibility. Note that JAUES may proceed with publishing your article if no response is received.

Response to reviewers' comments:

When the authors respond to the reviewers' comments, they should send their responses in a separate word file. Responses should be answered point by point in a polite, organized, objective and scientific way. Keep in mind that your response should be concise and complete. Begin by thanking the reviewers for their efforts in revision, and respond to each issue they raised in your work in a satisfactory manner for each comment. Also, attach a highlighted manuscript indicating each correction made in the text. This makes it easier to read and accelerates the process of revision. Solid revision ensures that a high-quality article is developed before publishing.

Acknowledgements:

  • Collate acknowledgements in a separate section at the end of the article before the references and do not, therefore, include them on the title page as a footnote to the title or otherwise. List here those individuals who provided help during the research (e.g., providing language help, writing assistance, proofreading the article, etc.).

Nomenclature:

  • Scientific abbreviations may be used, and special abbreviations should be defined the first time that they occur. If the paper contains many symbols, a nomenclature can be listed at the end of the paper. They should be ordered alphabetically with Latin letters first followed by Greek letters and uppercase followed by lower-case of the same letter.

Units:

  • SI units should be used with other units in parentheses if desired.

Submission and Publication fees:

For Egyptian nationality:

  • EGP 2000 for submission and publication of the manuscript (10 pages) will be paid.
  • For manuscripts exceeding 10 pages, the additional pages will be charged at EGP 50/page.

For Non-Egyptian nationality:

  • A paper up to 10 printed pages will be charged USD 500. Each additional page will be charged an extra USD 20.

Important notes:

  • The research submission fee of EGP 1000 is deducted, and the publication fee are returned in case that the research is rejected.
  • Authors can either:
