Abstract

This research deals with a study of the architecture of modern university buildings, with a focus on analyzing the design and function of the Faculty of Engineering at the American University in Cairo. The research was carried out through a case study, where the university building was comprehensively analyzed to determine the advantages and disadvantages of the current design. The experience and opinions of users about the building were also evaluated, including students, faculty, and administrative staff.
The results showed the importance of providing a university environment that meets the needs of users and enhances their educational experience. Based on these results, a set of recommendations were presented to improve university design, in line with user needs and enhancing the quality of the educational environment. Among these recommendations, the research suggested improvements to the distribution of interior spaces, improvements to the quality of the indoor environment of buildings, the use of technology to enhance the user experience, as well as improving maintenance and operating procedures to ensure the sustainability of the infrastructure of university buildings.
The research aims to highlight the importance of providing a university environment that is appropriate and stimulating for learning, as well as to provide practical guidance for improving and developing university design to meet the needs of users and contribute to enhancing the quality of education and research in universities.
