This paper concerned with how achieving the function of urban paths as a good access for
pedestrians and tries to define the role of path elements to achieve this function.
The study is dividing into theoretical part and analytical part, the theoretical part presents
pedestrians needs, how that effect on design and function analysis technique that value
engineering presents to realize functions in projects
The analytical part tries to build an annalistic diagram that started with main function and
progress until reaching the personable design elements, with using rule of function analysis
technique, and then a framework was made to define the role of every path design element in
achieving pedestrian’s needs
