FIRE RISK ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY FOR UNPLANNED URBAN RESIDENTIAL AREAS BY GEO-DATABASES

It is assumed that urban fire risk management, prevention and mitigation are priority actions in the process of upgrading or re-planning of unplanned urban areas, especially that they are always densely populated, as Egypt. Due to the nature of urbanization in these areas and social conditions and economical for its residents, as severe damage was caused by many fires in it, although the classification of residential buildings is a low fire risk works. All common fire risk assessment methods and fire codes focus on the building individually, and there is no agreed technique for urban fire risk assessment studies, although there are some traials made to study fire risk assessment at the urban level, but all of them are based the study of individual buildings using the methods indicated, so aggregate statistics to come up with the results of urban level assessment. Through the proposed research hypothesis, and within the scope of the research work that was conducted, a new approach was developed to assess urban fire risks, depending on the urban characteristics of unplanned urban areas, and other characteristics. By the simple method for risk, assessment approved by UNISDR based on the precise conditions and characteristics of these areas that affect of urban fire hazards and its assessment by Geo-databases technology.
